A few pumps
Auxiliary seacoolingwatersystem of unit EC 20, in the basement of the unit.
Three so-called boosterpumps which extract the water from the main system (the 2 meters diameter pipe in the back).
These are 50% pumps, so when the unit is on the grid we always need two pumps in service.
Coolingwater coming from these from these pumps is used for the heatexchangers of the fresh-coolingwatersystem, the lubricatingoilcoolers and the condenser of the mainfeedwaterpump which is driven by a steamturbine.
In front: the thermoshockpump which is used to supply coolingwater to the heatexchangers when we thermoshock the coolingwatersystem.
Thermoshock is used to free the coolinwatersystem from mussels which settle in the system.
This is an environmentalfriendly method; in the past we used chloride and that's harmful.
At the right: some 3000V cables.
