Pot detail
This is a detail shot of a large pot by Peter Stitchbury. I bought it in the late 70's or early 80's. A favourite posession and is special for several reasons.
I treasure it because, since the advent of a flood of cheap imported products, pottery is almost dead in NZ so I am grateful to have a beautiful piece in my home.
I treasure it because with this sort of pottery, that does not come out of a mould, each piece is unique.
I treasure it because it is handcrafted. It is imperfect in the sense that it is not absolutely symetrical and has individual markings - see lines near the handle.
This reminds me that in life we should treasure the uniqueness and special qualities of those around us, while knowing that they are not perfect.
