The three kings

Three Kings (Driekoningen in Dutch or Solemnitas Epiphaniae Domini in Latin) is a catholic holiday (Jan 6th) and it celebrates the 3 kings that followed the star to Bethlehem to greet baby Jesus.

In Flanders 'driekoningen' is celebrated in the weekend after January 6th if the day itself is on a working day. Having not grown up in Flanders and in a non-religious family, I tend to forget this holiday. Until each year we hear drums approaching our street and the parade, organised by one of the youth movements, comes through our street.
