dangerous stunts

Amelie can now add ''pulling a hot cup of tea down on myself from a place my parents thought I coundn't reach'' to her list of dangerous stunts...

So we had an awful morning today. Just before half 8 I made myself a cup of tea and sat down to write a shopping list. Amelie was playing happily on the floor. My cup of tea was sitting on the windowsill because its the highest point in the room and up until today she had not even attempted to reach up there. But today for some reason or another she decided to and managed to pull the cup of tea down on herself. Now some of you may remember a couple of months ago I managed to burn myself with boiling water; this incident made me super paranoid about boiling water and burns etc so I can't believe this happened right in front of me. Anyway instinct kicked in and I picked her up and started pulling off her pj's and vest. Straight into the bathroom where I put her in the bath and stood her under the cold water for 10 minutes. This was awful because she was sobbing so hard, I knew she wanted a cuddle and not to be freezing cold. I was pretty much under there with her trying to hug her and keep the water on her. I took her out after 10 minutes, deliberating whether to keep her in there longer, and she stopped crying pretty much straight away after I wrapped her in a towel. I had some vaseline dressings left over from my scald so put them on and we took her in to A and E. Before we had even got there she was back to her normal self and seemed completely fine. She was checked over in paediatric triage and there was not a mark on her and everything was fine.

I am not sure if the tea had been there longer than I thought or if the shower and vaseline did the trick...whatever it was we are so lucky here. And extra careful.

She absolutely loved the trip into hospital with all the attention and everybody loved her!! She was tired out by the afternoon (possibly the shock of it all) so we had a nice nap on the sofa whilst Chris went back to bed.
