Bird 'cake recipe'
Snowing quite hard earlier and the birds are eating the last of the 'bird cakes' I made earlier in the Winter. Decided to make more they really enjoy it and I love watching them.
I always drain the excess fat from the Sunday joint and store it in the fridge. Otherwise bought lard would do. I melt it and add whatever comes to hand, usually it's porridge oats, currants, desiccated coconut, sesame seeds, today also added some flaked almonds for a treat. I scoop it into small plantpots and put them in the freezer to set. The bonus is watching all the birds it attracts, try it.
