The Wolf Journal

Flushing

In between meetings I popped down the beach in Flushing this morning. Fog and rain didn't provide the summer-like atmosphere you would hope for with such a setting, but maybe this actually made it more special. I could not prevent rain drops clouding my lens though.

The afternoon I spent at the fire brigade, where most firemen still had mixed feelings about yesterday. Yesterday a big chemical factory not too far away burnt down, throwing a big black, potentially dangerous cloud over large towns. I drove by on quite a distance and even there the flames and mushroom clouds were obvious, so it was pretty big and somewhat scary.

And of course, you are supposed to say that it is so awful and it should not happen. But I can understand that, as a fireman, there is a part of you smiling when you can be called to help with something as big as this. And the guys of 'my' fire brigade (where I am once a week) were not called upon, much to their disappointment.
