Da Maria

Today I went to Genova with my dad and my mom, and as usual, we stopped "da Maria la zozza" for lunch....a "legend" here, as the NY Times calls her ;)

La signora Maria is not the lady behind the bar...she used to be the lady behind the bar. She passed away a couple of years ago, but everything, from the food to the decor, is still the same as when I used to go to college there....everything but the smile of the nice old Maria.
I admit I go there for the atmosphere and the simple but authentic food...not certainly for a gourmet lunch. I go there to see the handwritten menu hanging on the stair's pole, sharing a table with unknown local people and have the quickest lunch ever....you basically count until 10 and voila'!
