Simple gifts No 1

Yes, it's part of a red cabbage. I work in a small organisation with some lovely colleagues and it's not uncommon for someone to come in and say "there's some jam/tomatoes/apples/bread etc" in the kitchen - help yourselves! Today was the first day back after the holidays and the offering was this red cabbage. It was enormous so at least three of us benefitted from it.

Actually, I'm not a big fan of cabbage unless it's cleverly hidden in some magical culinary thing (my husband is a great cook!) but I just loved the patterns and contours in this humble vegetable.
