Dark thoughts

Don't be fooled - in that head are dark thoughts. Tom didn't want to walk up Blackford Hill today. He didn't want soup, he didn't want to play nice and he didn't want to be pleasant to other children.

Words were had and chores were volunteered for as a result. Dishwashing and hanging out the laundry. A few weeks back he picked up a tip off a friend at school - parents like it if you offer to help with stuff when they're cross with you. This usually gets you a cuddle and you're free to do as you please again. Tom has discovered that his parents are not always quite as forgiving.
