Waiting for the Bells

The shopping and cooking was done, the kids were upstairs with a movie, the guests arrived and New Year's Eve began. We were, as has been the case for the last few years at this blipper's house. There was much chat, eating a seemingly endless supply of canapes, and drinking a definitely endless supply of champagne. Later, there was the New Year Quiz (teams this year were Labour vs Coalition - Labour held this one), and then the name game/charades cocktail that keeps everyone on their toes. Teams were boys vs girls (plus one boy to even up numbers - thanks Andy, you can be an honorary girl any time). Tradition dictates that the girls always win and this was certainly looking to be the case when the game was called short by the Bells.

(As a quick aside, I have to note down best clue of the night in the name game "if you know the latin name for horse chestnut, it's a bit like that". No-one else did.)

Later still there was kissing, auld lang syne-ing, cigars outside, karaoke and a fairly early night (5am).
