Towards Mt. Blanc, late afternoon

At this time of year the low slung sun casts ever lengthening shadows over the Isere valley. Mt. Blanc retains the sun whilst the rest of us retreat into chilly twilight. Perhaps a proper photographer could capture the magical porange* Alpenglow that settles on the peaks as the sun drops to horizontal. On the road down towards Bourg St. Maurice mountain mist hangs like an ethereal river.

For those interested in this blipblog, the ski action photos are taken by Jean Ribart, a long time Alpine Experience member, diver and keen photographer. He has been documenting the Alpine Experience adventures since 2007 and his pictures can be found at:

Wayne Watson keeps a daily diary on the Alpine Experience web page:

Together these provide a unique insight into the (mostly) highs and lows of off piste skiing with Alpine Experience.

* porange is a mixture of pink and orange; the unique color of the setting sun on snowy peaks.
