New life...
I blipped a few weeks ago about our dog, Rannoch, who died, prematurely and left us all a bit broken. Rannoch came from Resipole in the Ardnamurchan Penninsula in the Highlands. I had one of my wacky ideas and thought it would be nice if we had a tree from where he was born to plant on his grave. Tricky seeing as we live in Edinburgh now. Undaunted and feeling a bit bold, I called the Sunart Oak Woods initiative, who are striving to reestablish the original oaks in their native places, and asked them if they could help me to get some seeds from Resipole to plant. They must have thought I was a bit loopy - but they agreed, and a month later an envelope full of acorns arrived. I planted them a week or so ago, and though conditions are really not ideal, a shoot has begun to grow. There is more than one on the way, but this fellow is the furthest on, so it gets the honour of being my blip.
