boston, yay!

it's been a bit of a year for my good pal S, so we decided to get together to catch up and generally have a spot of enjoyment in a place we know and like - boston. ok, a long weekend in the usa is a bit extravagant from edinburgh, but the flight was a birthday/xmas gift from my parents so there was just the hotel and the jetlag to pay for :-) and since S lives in the middle of nowhere in vermont it's easier for her to drive four hours or so and me to fly to boston than to go visit her. besides, cities have better cocktail bars!

arrived last night, knackered as usual (went out for dinner then crashed), so we started easy with shopping today, but the weather was nice so we strolled into town from our digs, via the public gardens and the common (this is the fountain at the edge of the latter), and set about having A Nice Time.
