Happy New Year
We're wishing everyone a wonderful 2011.
It's been a quiet day here with just a little watching of the Rose Parade and enjoying the backyard for a few moments at mid-day when the chill was gone for just a bit.
When I was a youngster, living at home with my mom and stepdad, I remember New Year's Day as a festive day with a special breakfast and a big late afternoon holiday meal. I guess we've lost that tradition. Now it is a kick-back day of leisure and staying in my jammies all day if I feel like it . . . drinking one delicious cup of tea after another.
It's very cold here this evening -- okay, it's 50 degrees F. That's chilly here. So a blazing fire and burning the leftover Christmas candles are what's happening here this evening.
From Southern California, where we are enjoying the last of the first day, we hope everyone has had a Happy New Year's Day.
