A beautiful day for a swim
New Years Day.
I was supposed to work 6 hours today, but due to it being quiet and being over staffed I got home after only 2 hours.
We headed along to English Bay to watch (and definitely not participate in) the annual Polar Bear Swim. This is a tradition across Canada on New Years Day, and it's been happening in Vancouver since 1920.
Up to 10,000 people have been known to witness around 2000 participants dip themselves into the Pacific Ocean. Some just go in for a couple of seconds, others go for a proper swim. Madness.
