This is a Marmite de Genève. It is a chocolate cauldron filled with marzipan vegetables and is made to celebrate the famous defence of the city on 12th December 1602, during which La Mère Royaume poured a pot of vegetable soup onto the attacking Savoyards.
We were eating it a little late on New Year's Day. Still tasted good, though. And I thought it would make a more interesting blip than yet another winter scene.
