A Wee Dram
The Old goes out but the glad young year
Comes merrily in tomorrow
Emily Miller
In years gone by, living in a small village, traditions for Hogmany were, out for a few drinks in one of the local pubs, home to be with family for the Bells (12 midnight), then first footing neighbours taking with you a bottle to toast in the new year with them. I have fond memories of singing old scottish songs and listening to the old folks reminiscing of days gone by. Nowadays, it's not the same, and I don't know why. Times change I suppose, some things not for the better!
So, here is the amber nectar, along with a wee bit of shortie, another scottish institution.
All the best for 2011 to all my new Blip buddies.
Oh, must mention how pleased I was to get on the Spotlight page yesterday, my first time since starting out with Blip. Chuffed to bits really. Thanks to all who left kind comments
