While on my runs

The Other Side

Where we are is a long peninsula which on the north eastern aspect bounds Kawau Bay. The other side of the peninsula is the northwestern bank of the Mahurangi River, which by the time it has reached where we are is much broader and tidal. The road to the end of the peninsula passes along the central ridge. Before today, all of my running photos during the past days we have been here have been of Kawau Bay side.

This morning I went along the ridge top road out towards the end of the peninsula for a way before turning and heading back. This view of the Mahurangi River over the fields appealed to me, especially with the reflections in the water.

I have slightly cropped the picture, but otherwise it is as taken.

Son-in-law brought the other two grandsons to spend the night with us so the parents could entertain friends for New Years Eve. This allowed for a great afternoon for four grandchildren, one father and one grandfather, at the wee beach. Lots of water play, rock clambering, and kicking balls around. We did have to avoid the detritus from some yobboes who set a fire on the beach and broke a number of beer bottles into the remnants (I went back later and picked it all up).

Happy New year all.
