By Odin's Beard!
We all went along on the torchlight procession this evening (well - a wee bit of it) following the 'river of fire' on its way to Calton Hill. Once there, the Shetland folk in their viking get up burnt a big boat. Here is a picture. My Norwegian father assures me that our family is directly descended from a viking king (Harald Fairhair I think...).
Anyway, mummy managed to finally find someone's discarded half-burnt torch as daddy didn't manage to buy one (seven quid for a candle!). Fireworks were quite good and weather stayed clear, but unfortunately didn't manage to meet up with Sis, Jill McStor, or little vikings.
