KEYS -- OLD ONES. ARTEFACT SERIES NO. 5

There are some old padlocks around, too, but another time.

The largest key, 22.5 cm, 8 1/2 inches, has a tag attached. It says, "Old key from Lindores Abbey." This abbey is on the outskirts of Newburgh in Fife. It was established in 1191 by the Earl of Huntington who was the brother of William the Lion. It's on google, I'll say no more. It would have taken a strong monk to tote this key about.

Another ticket reads "Dug up from General Gordon's House." We don't know if it was his house in the Sudan or his house in Britain. The one on the far right has "GH VI" in the brass design. Another has "PT 1673," but beyond that, none is identified. They're all quite old and most are fairly heavy.

Apologies for late and brief comments yesterday. The server was down -- again -- all afternoon and until 10 o'clock.

For the record: It's dark and overcast, also cold. 2C
