Winchester Mystery House
This blip photo is taken of the Winchester Mystery House in San Jose. Our family took a visit there on the way to Loren's Founder's Cup Tournament. It has such an intriguing story behind it and the tour kept our attention. Problem was, they are currently filming a movie about it so taking pictures was off limits! That was difficult for me, being so picture happy. I managed a pic of what was a small part of the house from the ouside but we had to run off to the tournament before I could get an outside view picture of the whole mansion. The people filming the movie are the same crew who filmed "The Haunting in Connecticut".
We arrived in Fremont at 1:30 for the tournament without a parking place to be found! Alot of people were there for the Founder's Cup. The game today was at 3:30, but we had to be there quite early to sign-in and for the boys to have time to warm-up. To their surprise, they were playing a co-ed team. This whole weekend I had a difficult time keeping my mouth shut because alot of cheap shots were taken at the boys on our team without the calls being made in our favor. Our town doesn't have the best reputation, so unfortunately it's been known to carry over to the refs. Now I see why parents have issues at games. I tried so hard to stay quiet---but when girls came up from behind and used both hands to knock over our boys without a call made against them---all I could think of was 'double standard'!!!! I didn't get their logic behind it. Not even knowing soccer well quite yet, there were alot of obvious wrong calls.....however, our team prevailed with a big margin during this game!!!! Yay Flying Thunderbirds! We also really enjoyed a view of the cloud covered foothills/mountains right from our fields. That was spectacular!
We went after the game and found our hotel in Fremont. The first order of business was to wash the muddy uniform in the hotel laundry room to be ready for tomorrow's games. Then we met several of the team for dinner at Denny's. Afterwards, the boys enjoyed swimming in the heated indoor pool with the teammates. That's a nice treat during the winter. At one point of time, I looked over to find half of the team in the hotel hot tub with my parents. It was a funny sight. The hot tub helped my mom's back and my dad's recovering knee. Then it was off to bed to rest up for tomorrow's games!
