Snow queen

Tonight there are tiny little pieces of ice falling from the sky.
Many years go I spent time in Finland and I remember thinking at the time, when I saw this happening, that this must have been where Hans Christian Anderson got the inspiration for the shattered mirror that pierced Kay's heart in the Snow Queen.

Pretty magical anyway.

... it slips from their grasp and falls back to earth where it shatters into billions of pieces, some no larger than a grain of sand. These splinters are blown around and get into people's hearts and eyes, making their hearts frozen like a block of ice, and their eyes like the troll-mirror itself, only showing them the bad and ugly in things and people.
