irish coffee for christmas

christmas in my house is chalk full of traditions, most of them irish in origin and coming from my mother's family. there is plum pudding with brandy butter. christmas crackers filled with little paper crowns. lovely little things. though generally not on christmas day, we also always make irish coffee during the holidays.

traditional irish coffee that is. with brown sugar and "just a thimble-full" of whiskey (the largest thimble you've ever seen that is, note it with case behind the glass), topped with cream in a special way to give it that guinness look. we love sharing the special tricks of making them with friends!
