Christmas Sunshine
... silhouetting an oak leaf.
Lovely day so far. Peaceful to start with - kids don't get up at the crack of dawn to see what Santa brought them these days, so I got to sit around doing not much for a couple of hours. Then everyone emerged and we had breakfast, waited for my brother to have his first cig of the day (thank goodness I don't do that horrible thing any more), and opened presents. Some lovely thoughtful gifts, including a toy bat (of the flying variety) that my brother found in a layby a few months back, it's lovely, and it's now named Camazotz.
For lunch we had a proper fry-up - sausages, bacon, tomatoes, mushrooms, eggs and black pudding - this is a family tradition that sidesteps the need to get up stupidly early to put the turkey in. Then Nick and the kids went to do some more work on the path through Mum's wood, Mum sorted the turkey out, I did the washing up and sawed a couple of baskets of logs... now we're all sitting round the fire in a very contented fashion with gorgeous turkey-cooking smells wafting around us. Nice.
I hope everyone's Christmas is going this well.
