Island of Ice

My caption for this Christmas Eve might well apply to the entire Island of Ireland. Last night for instance, was the coldest ever recorded at Dublin Airport. OK, so by world standards -10.6C is not particularly cold, but in the context of an island sitting in the middle of the Gulf Stream it is shattering. The coldest I have come across in the present spell was two nights ago in County Mayo where it hit -17.6C at one of the met stations.
Anyway, today's blip is a miniature island of ice shot in the front garden a few minutes after 1.00pm.
I have another idea up my sleeve for today but it has to wait until after dark. Watch this space, I might change the picture later on.
In the meantime to all my continental friends, for whom today is the big day, may I wish you all a Very Happy Christmas. For all those who will be awaiting the visit of Santa tonight... here's hoping all your wishes come true.
