Christmas Eve

Strange scene we saw today as we live in a city that is about 26 degrees and a very summery Christmas time, with fresh plums, cherries, raspberries, apricots and water melon, fresh garden vege salad for lunch and then we see a traditional Christmas scene with our family little ones, who just could not figure out what this was all about. They have no connection to England and can not relate to the idea of this scene, whereas we had lived there and done it so it was a real generational gap experience for us.

We are happy to be here and we are loving the family time. Last night the train that runs passed our house hit a car and dragged it along the line towards our house at 3.10am. The next three hours had us listening to the double train engines powering away outside our bedrooms with police and firemen running around until 6am when it finally left. I think the main issue was the front of the train was damaged and they couldnt drive it, as we have not heard of any fatality on the radio which is a good sign. Three people have gone to hospital and one was thrown out by the impact, so it shows you should not mess with a train towing over 1100tonnes of freight. It had made us grateful to be safe, and also very tired today! Visiting under 10s, five of them, all slept through it which was a great help.
