Christmas Preparations

So after a bit of a lie in this morning and some time messing around with Office Max's Elf Yourself I finally grabbed a shower. We then headed out into Garstang and grabbed a coffee before meeting the in-laws at the pub for lunch. I had some rather yummy stilton mushrooms!

After this we walked home and jumped in the car and headed further north. We had a really easy drive but also watched the temperature plummet!

At around 4pm we arrived at Mum & Dad's house (the house I grew up in from age 4 to 21 when I left to join the RAF). After getting the car unloaded, and a cup of tea, we grabbed an Indian take-away.

The early evening was spent playing canasta. At first Dad was winning with mum chasing him and me in last place. But as my Gran used to say when we played "It's early days". Indeed it was as I came from behind with a few superb hands to win with a concealed hand!

Last thing, Mum got the lentil soup prepared for Christmas day. She's blipped here doing it the old fashioned way, pushing the soup through a sieve to make sure it's silky smooth. Mum's lentil soup is the best, and a must for Christmas day. Oh as she's wearing the apron I brought back from Kuwait when I was flying in and out of Iraq 18 months ago! The apron is US army material, but you can see part of the embroidery of Operation Iraqi Freedom, and a Union Flag!
