Shortest and darkest day of the year

Today it is this year its shortest and darkest day in the northern hemisphere.
In the north of Sweden it is dark the whole day, the sun does not rise there.
It is not only dark here, it is very cold too, at the moment it is -24 degrees Celsius!
But who cares, now we are heading for better times, I mean from now the bright time of the day becomes daily longer until midsummer.

This picture shows our little road to our house, it is dark (1700 o?clock),icy and a lot of snow!
