lunar eclipse

But it doesn't look all that "eclipsed," does it?

to the naked eye, the moon was a reddish brown, copper colored disk completely in the earth's shadow and wonderful to see, especially against the backdrop of all those stars!

What I think I should have done was use Ctein's recommended settings, which I'd happened to run across and read just a few hours before! Instead, I thought my camera's metering (which works beautifully in the daylight) would do the job all by itself.

Still, it was a remarkable experience (though you should have seen the one that got away ~ A shooting star coursing diagonally down and across the frame from left to right a third of the way down from the moon itself! (I'd have had to have tripped the shutter at just the right moment beforehand, though, without, of course, having any idea why.)

Ah, well, what you see is what I did actually get today ~ and there are still all those stars!
