The dark walk to work

In this morning's grey light, I tramped through thickets of snow, along dirty slushy roads, to the pristine pavements along the new road by the hospital, with Old Joe in my sights.

There is a lot of work going on around this area on a new road which will bypass Selly Oak, including a diversion of the canal and the construction of a road under both the railway and the canal. It's an awe inspiring ambition of engineering, which I am sure will be fulfilled.

These tonka toy trucks nearby appealed to me as I slid along in the slush.
