It didn't work.... he couldn't keep still, not with baubles to attack.

Actually I'm surprised it took Gonzo this long to realise he could climb the Christmas tree. He might look like butter wouldn't melt in this shot, but he savaged the tree and it took ages before we were able to pull him out of there. We didn't get him out without a great deal of swearing and snarling on his part either.
