Fog Off

The Wee County's currently enveloped in this thick icy fog which makes for some nice atmospheric photos*, but comes at the expense of turning your digits to icicles as soon as you take off your gloves.

There's also no amount of polite chit-chat with the dog walkers around the pond here that sufficiently convinces them that lurking about in the woods in minus 7 degrees temperatures clicking away with a camera is a completely innocent and healthy pastime. Thought I would've been pretty much alone out there tonight but as well as the two men and their dogs there was a group of kids that had me in the horrors as they skated and skited across the frozen pond and jumped up and down on the impossible-to-guess-its-thickness ice. Found myself scanning the ground here for a longish stick and wondering if my camera strap could be used in a rescue if the worse happened. It must be great to feel that bulletproof.

I'm really hoping this fog will fog off as there's a full lunar eclipse due over here at 7:40am tomorrow and I know there's clear skies above this icy blanket. It's been nearly 400 years since the winter solstice has coincided with a lunar eclipse and I'll be mightily pissed if I have to wait 400 years for another to come along.

Look out for lots of moon themed blips tomorrow on here; hopefully one from me too.

*This shot was taken at 7:25pm tonight, but the fog, the snow and a custom white balance setting have made it look like it's daylight.
