glazed lips.....

It's been a very satisfying day, in fact a very satisfying weekend! last night we went to another potter's place for a winter party.....lots of great food, and most of the folks there were musicians of some kind - fiddles, guitars, piano, mandolin, and the voice! what a rich and eclectic collection of people! Once again, i am struck by the strange and wild coincidences in my life that has brought me here...to a place of music, creativity and beauty. And again, I am struck by how much this island at the eastern edge of Canada, can remind me of my old home, Scotland...it is just too strange really ! So many of us gathered there, were from somewhere else....even met up with my new vet....she's originally from Edinburgh!!!

So Terry and I had a lovely evening, him chatting with old and well known friends, me getting to know a few of them a bit more....just a bit at a time! And not only does Sarah (the potter) have pottery for sale, but she's now selling books (used and remaindered, therefore cheap!)....what a great combination....so i came home with a new novel and 2 other books on tape. During the winter, when most of us totally close up our showrooms, she's going to be open on Friday afternoons, offering coffee, a warm fire and books! i know where i'll be some Friday afternoons this winter, and i think i'll contribute some nice treats to go along with the coffee - I joked with her that she's trying to create the Cape Breton equivalent of Chapters!

Today, worked mostly in the studio preparing for the last firing of the year. didn't get outside much so I enjoyed a few moments photographing some of the textures on some of the pots.....i love the way the glaze pools around these lips!!!

And now - for dinner!

Just remembered the idea of this thread Sub sunday and wanted to draw attention to pined butterflies - another journal i haven't seen before! thought it was definitely worth a look!

]Addendum - well that is just too bizarre, last years' image is something similar, a part of a textured pot......i had no idea!!!
