St Ann's Square
This square is right in the heart of Manchester. It is named after the church in the background, St Ann's Church, and this is where I'm heading. Tonight , it is my choir, the William Byrd Singers' Christmas Carol Concert in which we are including pieces by Taverner, Warlock, Mathias, Howells, and topped off with In Dulci Jubilo by both Bach and Scheidt, and accompanied by both organ and trumpets. Somehow trumpets used in this declamatory way always make me think of Christmas.
Ps. In spite of the snow the church was well filled and the audience seemed to love our work. Good taste I say!
