Here there and everywhere

End of the Day on Ipanema

First full day here in Rio and feel refreshed after a good night's sleep. We're staying in a hotel which we know and have stayed in before and the guys on reception recognised us, which is always nice! Lovely hearing Brasilian Portuguese again and speaking it......although a few little Hungarian words creep in there too, like de for but, ha for if, and nem tudom for I don't know! Hungarian must be our default foreign language at the moment! Got settled in today and I had a manicure and pedicure (very typical Brasilian things to do!) and Bb had a haircut - all three for a total of £15!! And I reckon it's the best haircut he's had in ages! Saturday here is feijoada day, which is the Brasilian national dish and it's a kind of stew of pork, beef and sausage, and is served with black beans, shredded cabbage (couve), rice, slices of orange and 'corn bread crumbs'. It's absolutely delicious and that was our lunch today! Took this pic on a walk along the front tonight at the time of day when the last of the people were leaving Ipanema beach. The pretty twinkling lights on the hill in the background are actually one of Rio's biggest favelas. Just about to go out for a bite to eat now, but we're still quite full after lunch if the truth be told......so it will indeed just be a bite!
