Paralysed in 30 minutes

About 8cm of snow fell on London within half an hour and promptly froze, bringing the city to a standstill. This photo shows Mrs.Sardine being transformed into an ice sculpture before my very eyes. We were startled by a loud clap of thunder during the blizzard...I've never experienced that before (and I remember the bad winter of '63). Our journey home normally takes 10 minutes; today it took 90 minutes. I hear they closed down Brent Cross mall on the busiest shopping day of the year...completely unprecedented.
