Can't beat a good book

There was a lot in the media yesterday about the poor state of boys reading and sadly especially in my home city of Derby.

I love that my boys have a joy and enthusiasm for books and reading. We have far too many books in the house (if such a thing is really possible) and they see us both reading books too.

Eldest spent his pocket and tooth fairy (lost two in the last month) money on a copy of 'The Witches' by Roald Dahl and then by coincidence it was on the television today and he kept piping up 'its just like the book' 'its the same words as the book'

No matter what they go on to do in life I have a few wishes for them - health and happiness - but also to continue a love of the written word.
