Fear & Loathing

goodbyes.........

i do hate goodbyes. i think it's because goodbye seems so final. i still remember the day i said it to an old dear as she left the fish shop i worked in p/t as a teenager. any old school leither may remember the fish shop that used to be on the corner of summerside place "gary mcintosh" was the name of it. anyway, as she left with her smokies, i said goodbye. you would have think i had just stabbed her in the eye. she very quickly got a grip of herself and explained to me that goodbye was the sort of thing you said at a funeral. i have to agree, goodbye has a certain finality to it.

that amazing pearl of wisdom (yes i know not quite but artistic license and all that), has nothing to do with the blip however. this was taken as i dropped my mum off after her weekend visit. i feel quite sorry for her as even though we had a lovely (early) christmas dinner, she has had to endure a household of sick people. still she can never say her visit was dull as today i had to take lexie down to the kids A&E. her temperature has gotten worse, as has her cough.
the doc says it is a viral infection and not much they can do about it. he would have passed it off as scarlett fever but apparently her tongue wasn't red enough for him. so handed out a prescription but didn't recommend giving it to her as it will only make her rash worse and only shorten the duratiion of the virus by a couple of days. i am with the doc on this as the antibiotics only weaken her immune system and the more she has them as a child the less effect they will have when she takes them (if she takes them) as an adult.

bless her though, despite the odd winge she is being a little trooper. now i am sat here feeling sorry for myself as the cold that started building on friday is kicking in quite nicely now.
just a simple question before i go, what is better christmas dinner or the creations you make out of the leftovers in the days after?
