Wet Cobblestones
I woke up to rain against the window, and that continued all the way to work, at which point it made a rapid transition through hail and sleet to snow.
rain ~ hail ~sleet ~ snow ~ precipitation transistion
One thing about the rain though, it changes the texture of the city, and nothing captures that quite as much as cobblestones. I've spent most of my adult life in northern cities, where in the back alleys and side streets, cobbles are still surprisingly prolific. This particular set are on the cut up from Thornton Road to Great Horton Street. Looking at my 1906 Bradford map again, I see it is Westbrook Street, named after the West Brook that featured on Tuesday's blip, formerly in a neighbourhood of industry and terraced houses - now firmly lodged in the educational quarter occupied by Bradford College and the University.
