Apple of my eye

I was rather apprehensive at the start of the day. Katie had a fair night, waking at 10.30 and then at 4. She got up at 6am but by 7.30, she asked to snuggle and fell asleep. Until 11.00am. I thought we were in for a rough day. Bless her, she wasn't on tip top form, but she's been so good. She even ate some porridge. We pottered at home, not getting dressed til 1pm, when she also managed some bits for lunch - including munching from my apple. It was snowing heavily by then (the last lot hasn't even gone and we get more - grr!)
Jack and his mummy came round and the children had a really nice play. She wasn't quite her full bouncy self. I expected her to sleep again, but she just kept going. Today's new word was "ready". Jack's mum said to the children 'Shall we get ready' and Katie took her coat and said 'ready'.
We went to the post office and the shop, I thought she'd drop to sleep, but thankfully she sat in her pram eating grapes. When we got home I put up a couple of new decorations we'd bought, and some new beads on the tree, so she was very excited about that. She was bouncing when she saw the extra string of lights I'd put up in the lounge.
She refused her tea when it was done but then sat and ate almost all of mine, and a bit of custard for pudding. She enjoyed her bath, but she was so ready for bed, bless her!
