The famous Chesterfild Parish Church spire has 2 stories about how it came to be twisted.
First story is it was built using green timber , timber that hasnt been dried , and in the process of drying after being built the wood twisted.
Second story is that the Church of England wanted an unusual looking building to attract as many people into the church as possible and settled on this design.
But i have a third theory and that is the architect was a bit drunk when he drew up the plans and this was the result.
Being a Scotsman i trully believe that my theory is correct and that all the workmen were drunk as well when they built it .
The next time you are out on the lash and get a bit merry go and look at your nearest church spire and i bet you it will look like this one.
I rest my case !!!!.
