Advent Calendar Day 12 - All that glitters

This is the Christmas centre piece in one of the main shopping centres in Aberdeen and it sparkles and shoots out light. It looks like a gigantic Christmas tree on top of a planet of lights surrounded by other planets. Not sure what it all means but it is very tacky and very glittery but does it tell me anything?

At church today we concentrated on the Magnificat of Mary (Luke 1: 46-55) and that did have a message and created a sense of glory but didn't leave me wondering what it was all about or what it was trying to tell me.
