Not broody any more
So, today when we emerged into the outdoors we discovered that Betty was no longer sitting on the fertilised eggs we got for her. She'd decided that perhaps motherhood wasn't all it was cracked up to be, and had abandoned the remaining three eggs. By the time we got to them they were stone cold, so no hope of resuscitation.
It's a real shame - we were just about to build her a hatchery in the workshop, and we both quite liked the idea of ickle yellow balls of fluff. But it really has been bitter cold here the last week or so - too cold for baby chicks.
And Betty seems happy back to her "chook about the garden" ways :-)
Maybe she'll go broody in the spring...
