Jolliness

I have bought a pair of these "buttons" (badges in the UK) as a present for someone but I decided I wanted a pair for my photographic prop box as well.

Having taken this self portrait I decided I disliked it but my wife says it is jolly, handsome and dashing, and I should use it. I wanted to turn it into black and white but again my wife said she liked it best in full colour with all the blemishes showing. What am I to believe?
