Tyropita and truffles
Not my usual fare - I made these things for the festive get-together of my reading group which happens at this time of year. Everyone brings an edible contribution and, with no prior planning, a perfectly well-balanced spread results.
Tyropita is a traditional Greek cheese pie which comes in several forms. In Greece you can buy small triangular ones from street sellers to eat on the hoof or you can sit down to a family sized version. This one is not strictly authentic as I used puff pastry rather than filo but it does contain feta cheese.
Because the meeting was postponed last week on account of snow, this is actually the second batch of truffles I've made. I had to distribute the first lot to the group members (on foot) because they would not keep. However there was no objection to the appearance of more truffles today.
(It's a very easy recipe that only involves sugar, butter, syrup, cream, cocoa...)
