Widow Maker...
Often this term is applied to a type of tree, often in Australia, so called because their falling branches often made widows of those whose men were unlucky enough to be below them when they fell.
This is an extremely wicked looking icicle that I have been watching grow for some time now. I see people strolling by underneath, totally oblivious to the injury or death that could befall them from this rather pointy & very sharp object three stories above.
Anyway, this morning I took its picture as, with a bit of a thaw going on, I figured it might not be there for much longer.
I went past this evening and it had, indeed, gone. There was no sign of it below & also (I am relieved to say) no blood.
