Scotts Journey

Kenya

3 months ago today, I jetted off to Kenya. Holiday of a lifetime (as if it wouldn't be).

Shopping out there is a nightmare though, markets along the road side where they practically force you in for a hardsell. A typical carving could be worth £10 (ok technically that's 1070 Kenyan Shillings but I'll make it simple), they'd start at £50, you'd start at £1, eventually we'd meet about £20 (my dad was a much better haggler than I was though!). I wish these people would realise they'd probably make more money if they offered a hastle free shop with a fair fixed price.

Anyway, I fell in love with this paining when I saw it, think I got it for around £25 in the end. One thing to remember, whilst they can afford to sell it cheaper, I can also afford to spend a little bit more, as an extra fiver to those guys could literally buy a few meals for the family for a day or two.

I would love to go back. Still email one of the locals (yes they have emails!) I met out there.
