Snow Mouse
Took a morning walk along the Biel Burn from West Barns this morning, and enjoyed seeing heron, cormorant and dippers. I was standing still trying to get shots of the nervy little dippers, when this mouse came running along the path towards me. I expected it to notice me and disappear but on it came, taking refuge by my shoe.
After a while it tried to find a way through the snow and I realised how exhausted it was. I found a little burrow near where it was nosing around, picked it up and popped it in. I hope it's OK, poor wee thing.
