Mixed feelings

Whenever I pass by this sculpture I always stop and have a little look at it. It was created out of the trunk of a beautiful, huge old mulberry tree that, alas, succumbed to some kind of tree ailment and was chopped and pruned into submission. The remains were used to create this piece of art which, like a phoenix from the ashes, rises proud and beautiful from what could have been an inglorious end. I rather like it.

It's by no means a good shot, but I snapped it on my way to meet someone, so had to be quick.
