Christmas Grotto

When I was young I used to be entranced by the grottoes in virtually every big Department Store in every city.The best I can remember was in Blacklers, in Liverpool. You used to enter this magical winter wonderland of Christmas trees, decorations, fairies, elves and animals, all lit up with fairy lights, and after you'd wandered the maze of enchantment, there was Father Christmas sitting on his throne, waiting to give you a present!
What a shame that all that has gone. However, our shopping precinct has done its best, (even though I think £5 is a bit steep for a pathetic present!) The grotto is quite pretty.
